To survivors:

Buffalo National RiverThe resources on this web page are for survivors who want to recover from the negative effects of encounters with evil. Some survivors have, themselves, "crossed over the line" - now or in the past - and have committed their own acts of evil against others.

This website is not about judging.  It is about healing and recovery.  All are welcome here, and all are encouraged to take advantage of these resources.

Because some wounds are deep and some may still be hidden, it's important that you take extra-special care of yourself while reviewing materials in this website and any other linked site. If you start to feel strange or lost or unreal, or if you feel an unusual "need" to do something that could be harmful, please contact a support person to process your reaction.

Recovering survivors of extreme abuse are especially aware that the most benign sets of words, colors, pictures, etc. can unexpectedly trigger unpleasant thoughts or memories. If you encounter an unexpected trigger in this website, please consider using that experience to identify and dismantle  whatever it is - from your past - that left you sensitive to the trigger. Each time you conquer your fear of a trigger and develop power over that old response, you will find it easier to interact with "normal" society.

Some survivors have reported that the following types of therapy have been especially helpful in developing inner power over trauma-related triggers: psychodynamic therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness Meditation, and Progressive Exposure Therapy.
